Angle-Grinder Gang Targeting Rural Sussex Properties

Investigations are continuing into a string of burglaries in Sussex in which offenders used angle-grinders to gain entry to secure premises.

According to police, ten similar offences have been reported across North Wealden, Hastings and in locations near Rye since the beginning of this year.

The majority have occurred in rural locations, with farm outbuildings and containers being targeted.

Those responsible stole quadbikes and tools.

PCSO Demi Georghiou, the investigating officer for these crimes, said:

“As we continue to gather information and build a picture around these reported crimes, we are keen to speak to anyone who has information related to similar offences.

“Whether you are a victim, or if you have witnessed any suspicious behaviour or vehicles in the vicinity, please do get in touch with us no matter how small you think the information is.

“Our team regularly patrol the rural areas of our communities, and these patrols have been stepped up in the targeted locations and at the key times when these offences have been taking place.

“We ask people to remain vigilant, to take steps to protect their property and to contact us if they have any concerns.”

Police welcome information online, or by calling 101.

Information can also be given via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

In an emergency, or when a crime is being witnessed, officers say the 999 system should be used.
