Here’s all the coronavirus related news that’s gone on in Sussex over the last 24 hours.

As of Tuesday, (June 23) at 6am, the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district:

East Sussex- 775

West Sussex - 1,368

Brighton and Hove - 487

Sussex - 2,630

More Than £19m Covid-19 Assistance Reaches Hastings Businesses At Risk

Councillors in Hastings have been trying to contact many businesses in 1066 Country that haven’t yet received grants to assist with expenses caused by the coronavirus lockdown.

That’s according to local authority officials who said, last week (15 June) that over £19m has already been paid to a total of 1,651 traders working in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors.

According to the council’s own estimates, at the time it believed some £3.5m remained to be paid out to eligible businesses, read more here.

Glyndebourne Opera House Opens Curtain Onto Novel Post-Coronavirus Stage

Performing and backstage roles in Sussex’s world-famous opera house could be at least partially restored as Glyndebourne announces a series of open-air performances in its landscaped grounds.

Management at the historic house near Lewes, converted to be a first-class theatre for the staging of opera, released the news yesterday (Monday), as previously reported.

They’ve described the forthcoming outdoor programme as their “first-ever full summer season of open-air concerts and operas during July and August.”
