Heavy Rain And Strong Winds Warning For Sussex

Parts of Sussex are braced for strong winds and heavy rain today (Saturday).

A Met Office Yellow Weather Warning is in force from now until 10pm.

Gusts of wind are likely to reach 45-55 mph inland with 65 mph possible along exposed coasts.

Heavy rain will be an additional hazard, with as much as 30-40 mm of rain falling in 3-6 hours in some parts of south and south-east England.

What to expect:

•    Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
•    Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
•    Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
•    It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
•    Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

South-East areas affected:

•    Brighton and Hove
•    East Sussex
•    Greater London
•    Hampshire
•    Isle of Wight
•    Kent
•    Medway
•    Portsmouth
•    Southampton
•    Surrey
•    West Sussex
