The warm weather across Sussex saw thousands of people head to the region's beaches causing gridlocked roads and hour-long queues in some places yesterday (Wednesday).
With temperatures reaching 30 degrees in some places, yesterday was crowned the hottest day of the year by the MetOffice.
In a series of tweets, Rother District Council appealed to motorists and beach visitors to avoid the incredibly busy roads as queues formed and backlogged traffic was unable to move.
On the hottest day of the year so far, we have again seen a huge number of people heading to the beach which led to all three car parks and the overflow field being closed at 1pm. pic.twitter.com/cUSzNn40R9

The number of visitors to Camber Sands led to all three car parks and the overflow car parking field being closed at 1pm - with the council placing signs advising of the situation.
Despite the signs, thousands of motorists were left with nowhere to go as they continued their attempts at accessing the beach.
The District Council is warning that due to the amount of gridlock, along with people abandoning cars at the side of the road and on verges, should an emergency response be needed on the beach or in the village, it would be severely delayed and could put lives at risk.
Sunseekers are also being advised by Rother DC to consider alternatives to Camber Sands.
We would urge people considering a trip to Camber Sands to consider alternatives, as they will face hours of queueing with no guarantee of being able to park.
