Man Hit With Hammer During Burglary In Ringmer

Police are investigating a report of an aggravated burglary after a man was attacked at a house in Ringmer on Saturday night (Oct 2).

At around 11.20pm three men reportedly entered a house in Mill Mead.

One of the occupants, a 37-year-old male, was hit over the head with a hammer - he was later taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.

They had demanded money but ran from the house when two other occupants disturbed them.

Two motorbikes parked in a garage at the property - a white Husqvarna and a green Kawasaki - were stolen.

Detective Inspector Alex Campbell said:

“This was a traumatic experience for the victim and occupants but we believe this was an isolated incident.

"We are keen to hear from any witnesses or from anyone who has any information about the incident or has seen the stolen motorbikes or been offered them for sale.”

Anyone who can help the investigation can report online or ring 101 quoting Operation Lesson or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
