Member Of Public "Fires Taser" In Quiet East Sussex Village

Police investigations have stepped up after a member of the public reportedly injured a woman by firing a taser outside a country pub, late at night.

Officers said a fight broke out after a group of youths attempted to get into licensed premises in the village of Chalvington at twenty-to-midnight on September the 5th.

Reports said one person had discharged a taser, injuring a female bystander in Chalvington Road.

Another person, a member of the group of young people, also had a similar weapon.

Additionally, in the altercation, an 18-year-old man suffered a cut to his eye when he was punched.

Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid and gas, and assault.

Officers additionally arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to cause fear of violence.

Both were released on bail until 3 October.

Detective Constable Aretha Robinson said:

"We are appealing for witnesses to this incident and would like to hear from anyone who may have filmed it or taken photos to come forward."

Police said they welcomed reports online or by calling 101 quoting serial 1694 of 05/09.
