New Diagnostics Centre At Amex Stadium In Brighton

The Amex Stadium has been selected as one of 40 sites across England for a new Community Diagnostic Centre to be built.

The new centre will begin providing services over the next six months, with all 40 centres set to be fully operational by March 2022.

The aim is to make sure Sussex residents get direct access to a full range of scans and tests needed to understand patients' symptoms - for example breathlessness or cancer symptoms - in order to achieve early diagnoses.

Multiple scans and tests can be performed in a single visit, thereby reducing the number of journeys needed to be taken by patients.

Maria Caulfield MP said:

"We know that many people have not been coming forward for key tests throughout the pandemic, which has contributed to the backlog, and which can result in worsening health outcomes.

"The new Community Diagnostic Centre at the Amex Stadium will help deliver better health outcomes for people in Sussex, by providing a one stop shop to test for and diagnose serious health conditions as quickly as possible.

"Through investing in early diagnosis and increasing NHS capacity we will be able to treat serious illnesses sooner and save lives - levelling up health outcomes across the country as we build back better."
