A man in his 50s, who was out walking, was seriously injured yesterday (July 26) when a car collided with him in Peacehaven.

Police said a white Nissan Micra collided with the pedestrian at the junction of Downland Avenue and the A259 South Coast Road in the town at 3.45pm.

The injured man, who lives locally, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment,

But officers added that the car driver, who is also from the local area, was unhurt.

A long investigation at the scene took place, along with a vehicle recovery operation, and police have thanked drivers for their patience during the work.

Witnesses who might have seen what happened, or who have relevant dashcam footage, are invited to contact Sussex Police either online or by calling 101 quoting Operation Mastermind.
