'Person Hit By Train' Halts Services Between Eastbourne And Ashford International

Trains between Eastbourne and Ashford International are suspended this morning (Wednesday) due to an emergency incident in the area.

According to Southern Rail, emergency crews are in the area, and 'train traffic has been suspended to allow them to carry out their work safely'.

A statement on the providers website said:

'Buses are replacing trains between Eastbourne and Ashford International due to a person being hit by a train between these stations.'

It's expected that buses will be in place until 10am.

The rail network has issued the following guidance for people travelling this morning. 

Advice for customers travelling between Ore and St Leonards Warrior Square

To help complete your journey, tickets will be accepted on Southeastern service between Ore and St Leonards Warrior Square.

Advice for customers travelling to stations between Ore and Ashford International

Travel to Hastings and use Southeastern trains between Hastings and Tonbridge. When you get to Tonbridge change for trains to Ashford International. This alternative route will take a lot longer so allow plenty of extra time.

Buses are on their way to stations between Hastings and Ashford International. If you are at one of the stations between these two locations please speak to one of our station team who will show you where to wait for the rail replacement bus. If there are no staff at your station please use the Help Points, usually located on the platforms, and one of Southern's helpline team will tell you where to wait for the bus. Space on these rail replacement buses is very limited. To allow customers to keep their distance whilst travelling, numbers of people on each bus will be limited, this could mean you are waiting a while so please only travel if you absolutely have to.

Advice for customers travelling between Eastbourne and Hastings

Replacement buses are running this morning, stopping at all stations between these two locations. As above, space on these rail replacement buses is very limited. To allow customers to keep their distance whilst travelling Southern will limit the number of people on each bus, this could mean you are waiting a while so please only travel if you absolutely have to.

Ore to London Victoria trains are starting from Eastbourne this morning. You can also use Southeastern trains from Hastings to London Charring Cross via Tonbridge.
