Crew in Selsey were called to reports of someone cut off by the tide.
There are warnings from the RNLI to be careful along the coast in Sussex because of the large tides this week due to the equinox.
A spokesperson says:
"Whilst it may look benign and picturesque at low tide, please be aware that when the tide turns, it will cover very quickly."
Lifeboat crews were launched last night (Monday 29 March) at around 6.30pm after a report someone was cut off on the Kirk Arrow shingle bank to the west of Selsey Bill.
The Inshore Lifeboat beached and was approached by the station Lifeboat operations manager who had witnessed a single person carrying two dogs wading ashore. He had spoken to the person who said they were ok.
The Coastguards were happy everyone was accounted for and crews returned to station.
