Runners To Cover 240km For Eastbourne Bereavement Charity

In a bid to raise £2400 for Eastbourne's 'You Raise Me Up' - a charity supporting those who have suffered the loss of a child between 16-25 - a team of 24 runners is midway through their challenge to run 240km in 24 hours.

The challenge, which started yesterday (July 4) is set to be completed later, as 24 runners from across the UK each run in one-hour intervals to reach the combined total.

You Raise Me Up is a charity that supports families who have lost children from 16-25.

The charity was started by Fraser and Jane Brooks in 2011, after their daughter Megan collapsed and died suddenly.

The aim of the charity is to be able to provide compassion, support and simply to be able to say "we understand" rather than "we cannot imagine what you are going through".

They have trained, experienced counsellors available including child and adolescent counsellors to help families through dark times.

Like lots of charities, their funding has been hit by Covid-19.

The challenge, which is set to conclude at midday today (Sunday), hopes to raise as much money as possible to make sure they can continue to do all the vital work they do.
