Firefighters have tackled flames that broke out when a towel rail caught light in a domestic property in Sussex.
Crews from Steyning Fire Station attended the bathroom of a local residence, and found that the fault was in the device that combined a water supply with an electric heater.
But firefighters added that a smoke alarm had alerted the people in the house, allowing them to escape unharmed.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue service is using the incident to remind householders to check their smoke alarms regularly.
