Local Heroes 2026

Local Heroes is back for 2026! Do you know a local hero in Sussex deserving of a special award?
Across our fabulous county, we know there are a number of extraordinary people who are not getting the recognition they deserve: whether that's caring for a partner, looking out for a neighbour, working for the community, raising money for a good cause or any other inspirational activity.
Whatever it is these local heroes are doing, we want to know, and now you can nominate them for a special award! Just fill in our nomination form below. Nominations close on Sunday, 21st June.
The More Radio Breakfast Team will then select the shortlisted winners, with the awards being presented to them during the Breakfast show LIVE by Tom, Lou and Jack on Friday 21st July, taking place between 8am and 10am at our studios based at Hickstead Showground!

If you need some further inspiration for your nomination, here's some info about our amazing winners from last year:
James Cooper: In 2024, James completed 366 marathons to raise over £134,000 for Samaritans, advocating for mental health awareness, particularly around male suicide, following the loss of his uncle in 2017. His 'Smilinggg366' challenge involved running daily regardless of weather or personal challenges, fostering a supportive community of runners dedicated to promoting mental well-being through exercise.
Gemma Kybert: Gemma, who tragically lost her baby boy Oscar at 30 weeks pregnant, founded Oscar's Wish Foundation to provide support for families
experiencing similar losses, ensuring they never feel the isolation she
faced. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the charity has made a
significant impact in the community by covering counselling fees and
creating The Willow Room at Princess Royal Hospital and Brighton
Hospital, offering essentials like toiletries and clean bedding to grieving
families.
Clive Collins: As the founder of Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm, Clive dramatically
transformed his life after overcoming a severe spinal injury by dedicating
himself to the cultivation of Christmas trees, demonstrating a strong
commitment to sustainable practices, and becoming a pivotal figure in his
community. He actively supports various charities, local schools, and
scouting organisations through generous donations and events, all while
promoting eco-friendly initiatives.
