House Badly Damaged In Saltdean Fire

A house has been badly damaged after a serious fire in Saltdean.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to Lenham Avenue at 8.57pm on Wednesday after the roof of a property caught fire.

Six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene, while neighbouring homes were evacuated as crews tackled the blaze.

There were no reported injuries.

Firefighters began scaling back the operation at around 10.40pm before handing the property over at approximately 2am on Thursday.

A thermal imaging camera was used to check for any remaining hot spots, with a further inspection of the building due to take place later in the morning.

The cause of the fire is now being investigated by the fire service.
