Man Dies After Large Sign Falls At Big Church Festival

A man has died and at least six other people have been injured after a large sign fell at Big Church Festival near Steyning.

Emergency services were called to the festival site in Washington Road at around 15:38 on Friday 28th August.

Sussex Police confirmed a 41-year-old man from Eastbourne died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

At least six other people were taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.

Police are working with partner agencies to establish what happened, while the Health and Safety Executive and local authority have also been informed.

A section of the A283 was temporarily closed while emergency services responded.

Big Church Festival paused the event following the incident, with no further programme taking place on Friday.
