A new pet cemetery has been opened in Hailsham to give owners a dedicated place to remember their much-loved animals.
The site has been created after it was found that the nearest alternative was some distance away, making it difficult for families to visit.
Designed as a quiet and respectful setting, the cemetery features landscaped grounds, newly planted shrubs, seating areas and gravel pathways.
It is expected to accommodate around 120 plots.
Those behind the project say it recognises the important role pets play in people’s lives and the impact their loss can have.
The aim is to provide a dignified, local space where animals can be laid to rest and owners can return to reflect in peaceful surroundings.
It is also hoped the new facility will reduce the need for families to travel long distances, helping to ease both the emotional and financial strain during an already difficult time.
