A man has been jailed for more than five years after attacking another man and threatening to kill him in Rye.

Lee Beckett, 57, of Cooper Road, turned up uninvited at a friend’s home on May 21.

After initially speaking with those inside, Beckett punched a 56-year-old man in the face several times before getting a knife from the kitchen and holding it to his throat.

The victim, from Southwark, suffered injuries to his cheek, nose and eye socket and was taken to hospital.

Beckett pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and making threats to kill.

He was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday, September 30, to five years and three months in prison.

He was also given a restraining order preventing contact with the victim and a witness.
