August is here, and there’s plenty happening across Brighton, Hove and Sussex over the next few weeks.
From one of the biggest Pride celebrations in the country to Thai food, live music, circus acts and a huge end-of-summer party, here are six events worth putting in the diary.
🌈 BRIGHTON & HOVE PRIDE
Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 August
📍 Preston Park and locations across Brighton & Hove

Brighton's biggest weekend of the summer is here as Brighton & Hove Pride celebrates its 35th anniversary.
The famous Pride Community Parade takes place on Saturday, starting from Hove Lawns at 11am, before making its way through the city.
Meanwhile, Pride on the Park at Preston Park features two huge headline performances – RAYE on Saturday and Diana Ross on Sunday – alongside more than 150 artists across seven stages and entertainment zones.
There's also the Pride Street Party around Kemptown and Marine Parade throughout the weekend.
The parade is free to watch, while tickets are required for Pride on the Park.
🏇 BRIGHTON RACECOURSE FESTIVAL OF RACING
Wednesday 5 – Friday 7 August

Get dressed up and head to Brighton Racecourse for three days of summer racing.
The Festival of Racing gets underway on Wednesday 5 August, followed by Ladies Day on Thursday 6 August and another day of racing on Friday 7 August.
Expect racing, food, drink and the chance to soak up the atmosphere from one of the city's best-known sporting venues.
MAGIC OF THAILAND FESTIVAL
Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 August
📍 Preston Park, Brighton

Fancy a taste of Thailand without leaving Sussex?
The Magic of Thailand Festival returns to Preston Park for a weekend of food, culture and entertainment.
There'll also be a traditional Buddhist monk blessing to get the festival underway.
Tickets can be bought in advance or on the gate.
🎶 BRUNSWICK FESTIVAL
Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 August
📍 Brunswick Square, Hove

Brunswick Square turns into a free two-day celebration of music, entertainment and community this August.
The festival is celebrating its 44th anniversary, with a packed programme including live music, DJs, jazz, blues and a children's parade.
Saturday's line-up includes the Long Tall Texans, while Sunday's performers include The Fuzillis, alongside a range of local acts and community groups.
It's free to attend, making it an easy option for a summer afternoon in Hove.
🎪 THE REVEL PUCK CIRCUS
Thursday 27 August – Sunday 6 September

A giant big top arrives in Victoria Gardens as The Revel Puck Circus brings its new production, A Glimmer Daze Gambit, to Brighton.
The contemporary circus combines acrobatics, comedy, mime and storytelling rather than relying on a traditional circus format.
The story follows Stella and Kit, two hopeful newcomers dreaming of joining the circus, with the production designed to appeal to families and audiences of all ages.
There are performances throughout the run, including over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
🎉 MI-SOUL BRIGHTON BEACH ALL-DAYER
Sunday 30 August
📍 Horizon Club, 214 Kings Road, Brighton

If you're looking for a big Bank Holiday Sunday, Mi-Soul is taking over Horizon for a 12-hour beachside party.
The afternoon starts on the terrace overlooking Brighton seafront before moving indoors as the evening progresses.
There'll be three rooms of music, with soul, classics and house from a host of DJs.
It's an 18+ event, and tickets are available in advance, with prices expected to be higher on the door.
