Three Teenagers Arrested After Newhaven Assault

Three teenagers have been arrested after a reported assault involving a woman and a dog in Newhaven.

Sussex Police were called following an incident in the High Street at around 20:00 on Monday 24th August, during which a woman was reportedly assaulted and a dog kicked.

A 16-year-old boy from Hassocks and a 17-year-old girl from Brighton were arrested on suspicion of common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and shop theft.

Both have been released on bail while enquiries continue.

A 15-year-old girl from Brighton was also arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and remained in custody at the time of the police update.

Inspector John Adams said officers were continuing to establish the full circumstances after footage of the incident circulated on social media.
