A woman has been sentenced after knocking a vulnerable man with cerebral palsy to the ground and stealing his bank card in Brighton.

The incident happened on the evening of 27 October 2025 in St James’s Street, where the victim, a man in his 30s, was using a cashpoint when he was approached and asked for money.

When he refused, he was assaulted and knocked to the ground as the woman stole his wallet.

She then used his bank card in nearby shops, with CCTV showing her buying takeaway food and attempting further transactions.

Police launched an investigation and arrested Aji Sinera, aged 30 and of no fixed address, on October 30.

She was charged with robbery and three counts of fraud by false representation, and later pleaded guilty in court.

At Lewes Crown Court on March 19, Sinera was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years.
