Nigel Farage has confirmed he will take part in this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The former UKIP and Brexit Party leader was confirmed by the show's official social media accounts as taking part in the series.

A video was also released on Mr Farage's own social media channels saying he was off to the jungle.

Mr Farage said he would survive well in the jungle, as he is "used to dealing with snakes and other horrible reptiles" - both in the European Parliament in Brussels and at Westminster.

Yesterday, he was pictured arriving at Brisbane Airport - around 100 miles from the jungle campsite where the popular ITV show is filmed.

Other famous faces joining the ITV show who have been seen arriving in the country include This Morning presenter Josie Gibson and First Dates star Fred Sirieix.

Actress Jamie Lynn Spears, the sister of singer Britney Spears, Made In Chelsea's Sam Thompson and Marvin Humes from boyband JLS, are also among those taking part this year.

Mr Farage - a love-him-or-loathe-him figure in British politics - said:

"They've asked me every year since 2016 to go in the jungle, I always thought it's not the right time for me to do it.

"But I can't do it next year because we've got a general election, we've American presidential elections, so this year I am kind of free in a way to do it."

On his GB News show last month, he said he was considering an appearance on the show to "connect" with a younger audience.

Mr Farage is following in the footsteps of a number of high-profile - and often controversial - politicians who have entered the I'm A Celeb jungle.

Former health secretary Matt Hancock came third in the 2022 series - which became the second most complained-about TV event of last year, according to Ofcom.

Ex-Conservative MP and former culture secretary Nadine Dorries took part in the 2012 show - but was the first celebrity to be voted out.

Other politicians who have entered the jungle include former Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik and former Scottish Labour Party leader Kezia Dugdale.

The show's presenters Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, confirmed this year's series is set to begin on Sunday 19 November at 9pm.
