A man's been arrested on suspicion of having a gun, in connection with a significant police operation in Brighton this afternoon involving armed officers.
Sussex Police said they were concerned for the safety of a man in a property in Coldean.
Officers stated that as they made an arrest in London Road, the suspect resisted and was further arrested on suspicion of attacking an officer.
Police later found a suspected firearm.
Upper Lewes Road was closed for a time (around 1.40pm) as officers dealt with the incident.
They said no-one was harmed.
Inspector Gareth Davies said:
"We would like to thank the public for their patience while we worked to resolve the incident."
