A Premier store in Wood Hill Way, Felpham was ram-raided by a pick-up truck early on Saturday morning.
It was the second early-morning ram-raid to have happened in West Sussex on Saturday (Sept 24), with a Co-op store in Bosham, near Chichester, also attacked with a fork-lift truck at around 3am.
Police say a black pick-up truck was reversed up to the front of the Felpham store, after which, three men attached ropes from their truck to the front door and drove forward, ripping the door from the front of the shop and causing extensive damage.
"It appears they tried to make off from the scene with the cash machine but witnesses state this fell from the pick-up truck as it was driven away.
"Anyone with relevant information or footage is asked to report online, or call 101, quoting serial 131 of 24/09."
