Coronavirus: The Latest Developments In Sussex (Wednesday, 24)

Here’s all the coronavirus related news that’s gone on in Sussex over the last 24 hours.

As of Wednesday, (June 24) at 6am, the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district:

East Sussex- 776

West Sussex - 1,369

Brighton and Hove - 487

Sussex - 2,632

It's also been the second consecutive day that no deaths have been recorded in Sussex hospitals - although deaths may have occurred in other settings. 

 

University of Brighton researcher discovers new artificial-intelligence method to help diagnose Covid-19 early.

Artificial intelligence is being used to help the early detection of the coronavirus — and a University of Brighton scientist is part of a winning team that's making it happen.

According to the university's staff, a simple pinprick test, coupled with newly developed artificial intelligence, could predict infection before a standard test can diagnose the presence of the virus, as well as several new versions of coronaviruses in the future.

Seagulls draw with Leicester City in second game after Premier League resumed.

The Seagulls travelled to meet Leicester City, the former champions, currently third from the top and drew nil.

It came after Saturday's 2-1 victory over Arsenal in their first game back.
