Eastbourne To Host Drive-In Movie Festival

Movie fans in Eastbourne will be able to head to one of the regions first socially distanced events next weekend (June 11, 12) - as a socially distanced drive-in movie festival is set to take place.

The new event, taking place in Princes Park, will be showcasing family favourite films including 'How to Train Your Dragon' and 'The Incredibles 2', and singalong classics including 'Grease' and 'Mamma Mia!' on a giant screen.

Audience members will be able to enjoy refreshments from local catering companies, although all food and drink must be purchased using contactless payment.

Social distancing is to be followed at all times, with visitors asked to remain in their vehicles unless purchasing refreshments or using the toilet facilities.

Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Enterprise, Councillor Margaret Bannister said:

"We've seen a great reaction to our first socially distanced event, with tickets selling fast and the Grease screening already sold out!

"With public safety of the highest importance, strict social distancing and additional cleaning measures have been put into place, including the introduction of hand sanitising stations and a secure boundary to the event site ensuring only attendees with pre-purchased tickets are able to enter.

"As lockdown restrictions continue to relax and we prepare to welcome visitors back to Eastbourne from 4 July, in line with government guidelines, it's important that we are able to introduce safe and socially distanced events that will bring enjoyment to attendees while also creating opportunities to support local businesses and boost Eastbourne's economy."
