Electricity Failure Suspends Services On Southern Railway

Southern Railway services between Three Bridges and Brighton have been disrupted by an electricity outage this morning (Friday).

It comes after a power cable broke away from a pylon and fell onto the track in the Three Bridges area - which a train then ran over, causing a large power shortage and signal failures.

Disruption is expected to last until midday, with journeys delayed by around 40 minutes, and some stations unable to be served.

Thameslink services between Peterborough and Horsham will be terminated and restarted at Three Bridges.

Southern services that run between London Victoria and Bognor Regis/Portsmouth will, where possible, run via Hove.

The following stations are unable to be served at present :

  • Crawley
  • Ifield
  • Faygate
  • Littlehaven

Rail replacement buses are operating between Three Bridges and Horsham, calling all stations except Littlehaven station, which cannot be served by buses at this time.

A train shuttle service is operating between Horsham and Barnham.

UPDATED 13.26:

Despite initial expectations of service being resumed at midday, Southern Railway has announced that services are still unable to run between Three Bridges and Horsham.

Bus replacements are still in operation, with a shuttle train service still operating between Horsham and Bognor Regis.
