Emergency services have been spotted at the scene of a collision in Bognor this afternoon (Friday 27).
Eye witnesses report the incident happening in Bognor's Waterloo Square.
At least one fire engine is at the scene while flames could be seen coming from a vehicle that had collided with a street light.
Reports on social media suggest the driver was rescued from the vehicle.
On Monday (30), a spokesperson from Sussex Police responded:
"Emergency services were called to Waterloo Square, Bognor Regis, shortly after 4.15pm on Friday (November 27) to reports of a single-vehicle collision.
"A car collided with a lamppost and caught alight. The driver, a man in his 80s, was able to extract himself from the car and was taken to hospital with serious injuries."
