Eight fire engines have arrived in Hove, where a residential property has caught light.

Firefighters said, shortly before 1pm today (July 19), that appliances and crews had been sent to Brunswick Place from Roedean, Hove, Preston Circus, Seaford, Newhaven and Lewes.

Equipment being used to tackle the fire included an aerial ladder platform.

Witnesses have reported seeing smoke billowing into the air, as firefighters plead with residents to stay indoors.

We will update this story when more information is released by fire and rescue services.
