There's been shock and outrage online as a video emerged of police officers restraining a person in Brighton on Tuesday (7).
People on social media have become outraged as a video emerged of police restraining an individual in Montpelier Road, at around 10.15am.
Officers said they were searching for a missing teenager at an address in the road.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said:
"A resident of the address, a 28-year-old man, refused police entry and was arrested.
"Police subsequently found the missing teenager hiding at the property and returned them safely home.
"Once under arrest, the man became aggressive towards officers and was handcuffed and placed on the ground before being transported to custody.
"We train our officers to protect themselves and others using reasonable force and are reviewing this footage, together with body worn video captured by the officers of the entire interaction, to identify if any further investigation or learning is required."
An instagram page that describes itself as 'a space to promote, black business, creatives and liberation within the city' has since removed the video, but are now urging others to get in touch with local authorities and MPs.
In the comments people have said things like:
"There was zero need for anyone to be leaning anywhere near to his throat."
*This article previously said the person was a teenager which has been corrected.
