Coronavirus Vaccine: Eligible Sussex Residents Reminded To Book

Sussex residents who are eligible but haven't yet had their COVID vaccine are being urged to book one.

The local NHS is urging those aged 50 and over and those at risk to book their COVID-19 vaccines quickly.

Anybody aged 50 or over can book themselves in for a first dose using the national booking system for England or arrange it with their local vaccination service.

People aged 18 and over who are clinically vulnerable should also book themselves in for a vaccine.

GPs will continue contacting eligible patients on their lists and offering vaccines to anyone who has not had one so far.

The call for those aged 50 and over and those with health conditions to act now and book their vaccination comes as part of the 'No one's safe until we're all safe' campaign.

As part of the campaign, special teams are taking the vaccine to local residents in the heart of their community.

This week the COVID-19 vaccines are being given in the community at:

  • 10:30am to 2:30pm
  • Good Friday 2 April and Saturday 3 April 2021
  • Alongside The Level on the west side of Ditchling Road as you head into Brighton (opposite the Caroline of Brunswick pub, 39 Ditchling Road)

Pre-booked appointments are available for anyone eligible. Limited drop in appointments are also available.

Anyone over the age of 50 years old is eligible for the free vaccination in the community, along with those who are aged under 50 and have a serious long term health issue, and unpaid carers.

If you are eligible and are yet to receive your vaccination, simply call 0300 303 8060 to book your appointment with this community service this week.

Getting the vaccine in the community is easy; just bring one form of ID (photo ID not required) and NHS number, if known.

It follows community clinics last weekend when COVID-19 vaccines were being given in the community outside St Peter's Church in York Place last Friday and Saturday.

More than 100 local people received their vaccination thanks to the teams, being managed by the HERE GP Federation. It is just the second weekend of the ambulance being on the road, and it will be visiting further locations over the coming weeks.

It is all part of an initiative launched by the local NHS and Brighton and Hove City Council to ensure no one misses out on their COVID-19 vaccine offer, and to make it as easy as possible for people to get the protection they need to stay safe.

The campaign includes outreach services, work with communities to support the diverse communities in the city to understand any barriers to them receiving it, as well as clear information across the city on the vaccination programme that is targeted to communities, written in community languages.
