A woman has suffered serious injuries after the car she was a passenger in, collided with a parked vehicle at The Common in West Chiltington.
Police were called to the incident just after midnight on Saturday (Jan 15).
It involved a Renault Clio, whose driver had fled the scene.
The Clio’s passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for emergency treatment.
A 55-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving; driving whilst unfit through drink; and failing to report a road accident. He remains in custody at this time.
Officers investigating the collision are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, including anyone who may have captured any relevant CCTV, doorbell, or dash cam footage from the area.
