A double-decker bus driver has been seriously injured after a collision with a parked police vehicle at Gatwick Airport in the early hours of this morning.
The crash happened at around 4.50am on an approach road to the South Terminal, according to Sussex Police.
There were no passengers on board the bus at the time of the incident, and no officers were inside the police car when it was struck.
Police confirmed that the patrol vehicle had been parked while officers dealt with a separate incident involving a driver who had failed to stop and subsequently abandoned his vehicle.
The road between the Gatwick Road and Longbridge roundabouts was closed following the collision but has since reopened.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is now underway.
