Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after an 18-year-old was assaulted in Chichester city centre.
The victim was in South Street, outside Rapscallions Club, between 3am and 4am on 1 October when he and a friend were approached by two men.
One allegedly acted aggressively before pushing and headbutting the victim, who suffered injuries requiring hospital treatment.
Sussex Police are treating the incident as a homophobic hate crime.
District Commander Chief Inspector Kay Hutchings said the force took reports of hate crime seriously and encouraged anyone affected to come forward.
Anyone who recognises the man pictured or has information is asked to contact Sussex Police online, quoting serial number 1307 of 01/10.
It’s upsetting to hear about incidents like this, and I hope the victim receives the support and justice they deserve. Everyone should feel safe and respected in their community, regardless of their sexual orientation. Raising awareness and encouraging people to speak up against hate-motivated violence are important steps toward creating a more inclusive society.
