A man who threw a drink over a police officer at a Brighton v Crystal Palace match has been handed a three-year Football Banning Order.
Matthew Forsdyke, 59, of Seaford, admitted assaulting an emergency worker and being drunk and disorderly in public.
The incident happened at American Express Stadium on 8 February, where officers were deployed to manage supporters after the match.
As an officer approached Forsdyke due to his behaviour, he threw the contents of a cup over him, followed by the cup itself.
Forsdyke was later arrested and sentenced at Brighton Magistrates’ Court. In addition to the banning order, he was fined £120 and ordered to pay costs and a surcharge.
Police said such behaviour towards officers will not be tolerated and action will be taken against those responsible.
