Small businesses across Horsham District will soon be able to apply for grants of up to £5,000 to help fund projects that reduce carbon emissions and improve sustainability.

Applications for Horsham District Council's Green LEAP grant scheme open at midday on Friday 10th April 2026.

With funding limited, businesses are being encouraged to prepare their applications in advance and apply as early as possible.

The Green LEAP scheme was launched in 2024 as an extension of the Council's LEAP Small Business Grant Scheme.

Since then, it has supported 32 environmentally-friendly business projects, helping firms invest in renewable energy, replace machinery with greener alternatives and introduce new processes to reduce waste.

A Horsham District Council spokesperson said:

"Our Enterprise team are dedicated to actively nurturing local businesses to develop, drive economic growth and secure green prosperity.
"The Green LEAP grants provide businesses with the opportunity to futureproof their businesses by enabling them to become more climate friendly and sustainable.
"I would strongly advise that businesses take advantage and consider applying early for this fantastic grant scheme."

One business to benefit from the funding is Horsham-based hydrogeology consultancy H2Ogeo, which used a Green LEAP grant to support a live river restoration project.

The funding allowed the company to install automated groundwater monitoring equipment on the River Adur, helping to collect detailed environmental data to support restoration work and climate adaptation.

A spokesperson for H2Ogeo said:

"Thanks to Horsham District Council's Green LEAP Grant, H2Ogeo has been able to deploy two automated groundwater elevation monitoring devices on the River Adur.
"The project tracks ditch and river interactions, generating high-resolution data that supports restoration and climate adaptation.
"The Green LEAP funding enabled H2Ogeo to turn local investment into measurable environmental outcomes."

The latest round of Green LEAP funding closes at midday on Monday 20th April 2026.

Businesses can find out more about the eligibility criteria and application process on the Horsham District Council website.
