Plans For 59 New Homes In Warnham Set To Go Before Councillors

Plans to build 59 new homes in Warnham are set to be considered by Horsham District Council’s planning committee next week.

The application, submitted by The Broadbridge Heath Trust, relates to land east of Tilletts Lane and will be discussed at a meeting on Tuesday, August 4.

If approved, the development would include 21 affordable homes, with access proposed from Knob Hill (formerly Threestile Road) and Tilletts Lane.

The site was identified for at least 50 homes in the Warnham Parish Neighbourhood Plan (2019).

The council received 81 objections from residents, with concerns raised including the impact on wildlife, flooding and drainage issues, and fears the development would represent over-development of the village.

However, planning officers have recommended approval, saying that because Horsham District Council does not currently have the required five-year supply of housing land, the planning balance is tilted in favour of allowing the scheme to go ahead.

A statement submitted with the application says the development would make a "significant and positive contribution to Warnham".

It adds:

"The master-plan shows how an extension to this historic village can be created seamlessly and create a place that feels like it belongs in its surrounding landscape.

"Through the understanding of the village’s location, special character and identity it has been possible to not only design a development appropriate for the 21st century, fulfilling all the functional and technical requirements for a residential neighbourhood, but also a place where future residents will feel comfortable and be happy to live."
