Prolific Burglar Jailed For Brighton And Hove Crime Spree

A prolific burglar and thief from Brighton has been jailed for 28 months after admitting a series of offences across Brighton and Hove.

Forty-five-year-old David Mann, of Grand Parade, burgled a home in Hove after climbing scaffolding and forcing his way through a bathroom window.

He stole jewellery and electronics before going on to target a health store, student accommodation and a vehicle at the Brighton Centre.

A purse was also stolen from an elderly woman’s home, with CCTV and bank records helping Police link Mann to the offence.

Mann was arrested on 30 July after being identified as a suspect in the offences.

He pleaded guilty to seven charges at Brighton Magistrates' Court and later admitted seven further offences.

He was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Friday (28 August). Detective Constable James Botting said Mann had shown "zero regard" for the people affected, adding that some of the stolen jewellery had sentimental value and could never be replaced.
