Motorcyclist Dies In Slindon Collision

A motorcyclist lost his life on the A29 north-east of Slindon in West Sussex yesterday (October 14), after he crashed into a parked van immediately after a separate collision on the road.

Emergency services pronounced the 50-year-old rider, who was from Hampshire, dead at the scene, at Fairmile Bottom around 3pm.

According to police, a black Aprilia motorcycle and a silver Vauxhall Vectra were both travelling northeast towards Whiteways Roundabout when they collided.

This caused the motorcycle to crash into a dark coloured Ford Transit which was parked in a layby on the opposite carriageway.

The driver of the Vauxhall – a 30-year-old man from Storrington – was uninjured.

Officers arrested this driver at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A witness appeal has been launched, seeking other motorists who may have dash-cam footage, or bystanders.

Any witnesses are requested to email [email protected] quoting Operation Redman.
