Engineering work is set to affect train services across Sussex and Surrey over the Christmas and New Year period.
Network Rail will carry out major maintenance at Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges stations, as well as work on the conductor rail at East Croydon and other busy sections of track across South London.
On 4 January, buses will replace trains between Purley and East Grinstead and Oxted and Uckfield, while services between Victoria and Reigate will only run between Redhill and Reigate.
Lucy McAuliffe, Sussex route director for Network Rail Southern Region, said the festive period offers a “rare chance to make the most of lower passenger numbers to carry out vital work,” adding that the aim is to provide “safer and more reliable journeys” once the work is completed.
Jenny Saunders, customer services director for Gatwick Express, Southern and Thameslink, urged passengers to check timetables and plan ahead before travelling over the holiday period.
Passengers are advised to review service updates before travelling to avoid disruption.
