A 35-year-old man has been arrested in Eastbourne on suspicion of supporting the terrorist group Islamic State in a social media post.

Counter Terrorism Policing South East said the man was detained on Friday morning on suspicion of expressing support for the proscribed organisation, also known as IS or Daesh.

Officers, supported by Sussex Police, are currently searching a property in the town.

Sussex Police Chief Superintendent Justin Burtenshaw said there is not believed to be any immediate risk to the community.

The man remains in police custody.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
