Funeral Held For Pastor Killed By Falling Sign At West Sussex Festival
A funeral has taken place for a 41-year-old pastor who died after a large sign fell on him at a Christian festival in West Sussex.
Robert Guanco, who worked at Jesus the Living Water Church in Eastbourne, was killed at the Big Church Festival in Wiston Park, near Steyning, on August 28. Six other people were injured, with four taken to hospital.
During his funeral service, mourners remembered him as “a beautiful soul who touched all of our lives profoundly” and someone who always put others first.
One speaker said he was known as ‘Kuya Robert’, meaning ‘Big Brother Robert’ in Filipino, and praised his faith, dedication and kindness.
A fundraising page supporting his wife and daughter has raised nearly £242,000.
Horsham District Council, which is leading the investigation into the incident, says health and safety inquiries are continuing, with several lines of investigation still being pursued.
