A man has been charged following an incident in East Grinstead in which two police officers were assaulted while responding to a disturbance on a bus.
Police were called to reports of trouble on board a bus at around midday on Wednesday, 17 June.
During the incident, two officers were assaulted while carrying out their duties. Following enquiries, a suspect was arrested and later charged.
Kenzie Sotgiu, 21, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis.
He appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 18 June, where he was granted bail and is due to appear again in November 2026.
Sergeant Tom Webb, from Crawley Response Team, said officers work hard to keep the public safe and should be able to carry out their duties without facing violence or abuse.
He added that assaults on emergency workers are taken extremely seriously and will always be thoroughly investigated.
