Plans to build 300 homes in West Sussex have been withdrawn following hundreds of objections.
David Wilson Homes had applied to build on land at Stubcroft Farm in East Wittering, but concerns were raised over flooding and sewage.
Chichester District Council had already extended deadlines to allow further investigation, but was reportedly likely to refuse the plans.
Nearly two years after the application was submitted, agents acting for the developer confirmed it had been withdrawn.
They say they still believe the issues can be resolved, and a revised application could be submitted in the future.
