Police are appealing for help to identify a group of men in connection with a number of reported offences across Sussex.
The incidents involve suspects allegedly using counterfeit Bank of Scotland notes to pay for goods before asking for change in smaller denominations of pound sterling.
Officers say there have also been reports of intimidation and damage to property when transactions have been refused.
An investigation is ongoing, with police following several lines of enquiry.
They are now asking anyone who recognises the men, or who may have relevant information such as CCTV or mobile phone footage, to come forward.
Information can be reported online or by calling 101, quoting serial 734 of 01/03.
