Police Dog Finds Weapon After Seaford Stabbing

A police dog has helped officers find a weapon after a woman was reportedly stabbed in Seaford.

Police were called to Chalvington Field on the afternoon of 28 July, where the woman was found with injuries including a wound to her hand.

She was given medical treatment at the scene, while officers began searching for the person responsible.

However, the weapon believed to have been involved could not initially be found.

That's when Police Dog Ava was brought in.

The 18-month-old German Shepherd worked with her handler in hot conditions, leading officers into a wooded area and through dense vegetation.

She eventually located the weapon, which was recovered and sent away for forensic examination.

Ava was rewarded for her efforts with her favourite rope ball.

Officers then found a man nearby who they identified as 35-year-old Jason Tilly, of Chalvington Close, Seaford.

He was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm.

Tilly has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court for a plea hearing on 27 August.
