Residents and team members at a care home in East Grinstead are keeping active thanks to lively Zumba sessions led by a local dance instructor.

At Charters Court Care Home, the popular classes are delivered by Anna from I Am Dance Fit and have quickly become a favourite on the home’s activities calendar.

The sessions combine easy-to-follow dance moves with upbeat music, creating an inclusive environment where residents can take part whether seated or standing, and at their own pace.

Staff say the classes encourage movement, social interaction and plenty of smiles.

Home Manager Julie Harper said everyone at the home enjoys the sessions, adding that moving to music provides great exercise while also boosting mood and energy levels.

She described the classes as being filled with laughter, rhythm and enthusiasm.

Regular physical activity is recognised as supporting both physical and mental wellbeing, and the home says the Zumba sessions are helping residents stay active while spending quality time together.

Staff are looking forward to continuing the dance-filled sessions in the months ahead as part of their wider activities programme.
