A Sussex Police officer has been charged with a number of sexual offences involving two children.

Iain Macnab, 51, a Detective Inspector based in West Sussex, is accused of sexual assault, sexual activity with a child, and perverting the course of justice.

The alleged offences are linked to his off-duty role as a football coach in West Sussex between October 2024 and February 2025.

The charge of perverting the course of justice relates to an incident while he was on duty.

Both victims and their families are being supported by specialist officers.

Macnab was suspended from duty in March 2025 after the allegations were first reported.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 24 March.

The investigation has been carried out by Surrey Police, and the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed, in line with standard procedures.
