A former Conservative councillor in Horsham has joined Reform UK, becoming the first representative of the party on Horsham District Council.
Tong Hogben, who represents Colgate & Rusper, left the Conservative Party last year and has been serving as an Independent councillor since.
He said his decision to join Reform UK came after 10 years in local politics with the Tories.
Mr Hogben criticised the party for failing to deliver on key promises, including on immigration and Brexit, and for a lack of clear leadership.
“Reform UK, by contrast, offers a clear, principled direction and a stronger opposition to Labour,” he said.
“I am proud to be joining Reform UK and delivering the necessary change Horsham needs.”
Horsham District Council is currently controlled by the Liberal Democrats.
