An investigation is underway after the body of a man was discovered in the landing gear compartment of an aircraft that had arrived at Gatwick Airport from Morocco.
Emergency services were called to the airport after the body was found in the undercarriage of an Air Arabia flight from Tangier, which landed shortly before midday on Tuesday.
Gatwick Airport confirmed the discovery and said its teams were assisting Sussex Police and HM Coroner with their enquiries.
Sussex Police has launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the man.
A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport said:
"A body was found and our teams subsequently supported Sussex Police and the coroner. Our thoughts are with everyone affected."
The discovery is not the first of its kind at Gatwick. In 2022, the body of a man was found in the undercarriage of a flight arriving from The Gambia.
Police enquiries into the latest incident remain ongoing.
