People living near Berwick have today (Tuesday) been advised to keep their doors and windows closed after a fire broke out at an industrial building in the early hours of the morning.
East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said it was called shortly after 3am to a blaze at Berwick Court Farm on Alfriston Road, Berwick.
Six fire engines were sent to the scene.
Crews worked to bring what was described as a significant fire under control.
Station Manager Tom Glandfield said firefighters were initially unable to locate the seat of the blaze but were directed to it by an ambulance team.
The fire was then tackled quickly thanks to the efforts of local crews.
No injuries have been reported.
Sussex Police closed Alfriston Road in both directions between the A27 and Lullington Road to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.
The road has since reopened, but drivers are being urged to approach with caution as hoses remain stretched across parts of the carriageway.
Two fire engines remain at the scene damping down hotspots and ensuring the fire does not spread to neighbouring buildings. A fire investigation is due to take place later today.
Paul Lewis, one of the owners of Berwick Court Farm, said he was extremely grateful to the fire service for bringing the situation under control and relieved that no one was hurt.
He described the incident as a shock and said efforts would now focus on getting people back to work as soon as possible.
